Canucks Seal Play Off Berth
Vancouver will officially be appearing in the Western Conference Playoffs as they scored an important 2-1 shootout victory against the Detroit Red Wings at the Rogers Arena! This fixture was the most important of the weekend as it saw both mine and Mike's teams up against each other with bragging rights at stake!
Alex Edler gave the Canucks a bright start midway through the first period on a power play, but the Red Wings soon levelled through Cory Emmerton's well timed goal. Cory Schneider was again the hero for the home side with 33 saves which forced the game into overtime and eventually a shootout. Saves from Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Brunner ensured the Wings drew a blank and once again it was left to Maxim LaPierre to smartly beat Jimmy Howard and give the Canucks the extra point!
With their form steadily improving, it will be interesting to see who Vancouver is paired with in the 1st round of the playoffs because with Schneider on such good form, beating us will no easy task!
