Detroit eases past Chicago

With the time difference between the US and the UK, it's pretty rare I get to watch a live game so today's game is extra awesome. The Detroit Red Wings headed to Chicago hoping to get a win on the board and equalise the series. The Blackhawks had different ideas and hit the Red Wings like a steam time right from the faceoff. Detroit held off well and soon were bringing the game to Chicago. Even killing off a powerplay after Brendan Smith was caught hooking Marian Hossa. The deadlock was broken after 14 minutes when a superb passing play allowed Patrick Kane to score past Jimmy Howard . Detroit will be disappointed with the goal as it looked like something straight from the training rink. No keeper in the league would have saved it though so Howard can't be too unhappy. Darren Helm Probably Out For Season

Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock has announced in the  Detroit Free Press  that he doesn't think Canadian Center Darren Helm will be back before the end of regular season. Helm has been suffering with a back injury he picked up in pre-season.

What's Left On Detroit's Schedule?

The Detroit Red Wings have 9 games left in the regular season. The Question that GM Ken Holland and Coach Mike Babcock is does the team have enough left in the tank to ensure that it can hang on to a playoff place? The Wings are currently 1-1-0 against the Sharks and their only win was a shootout in February. The Sharks have made a lot of trades leading up the closure of the window last week and the Wings will need to pick apart any of the inconsistencies that come with unfamiliar players and lines playing together. 12/04/13 Chicago Blackhawks - Road Despite Chicago's dominance of all things Western, the Wings have taken 2 points from their three games having lost 2 in overtime.
