Today it has emerged that what started as a joke by the Discovery Channel against the Pittsburgh Penguins has become something way more funny! Gently mocking the Pens first round exit against the Rangers, this jousting has turned into a real spat. But reading the final tweet from Discovery is the definition of being owned! In the Boston Bruins 4-3 win over Tampa Bay Lightning at TD Garden last night, Lightning player Cedric Paquette discovered exactly the reason why you don't pick a fight with 6 foot 9 Bruins captain, Zdeno Chara ! Early in the 3rd period and the Bruins on a power-play, Paquette found that his fighting talk was about to land him in hot water! See below for the unfortunate aftermath!

Today has seen the nominations for the James Norris Memorial Trophy been announced and soon the league will vote for the leagues best defenseman. The players nominated are as follows: Zdeno Chara (Boston Bruins) Duncan Keith (Chicago Blackhawks)   Shea Weber (Nashville Predators)  Upon first glance it would probably seem most likely that in the fast the Bruins run away success during the regular season and their current form during the play-ofs, that Mount Chara will rack up  another James Norris win after his previous success in 2009- but although he has been a rock at the centre of the Bruins defense. The Boston Bruins won a dramatic late 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at TD Garden last night in real end to end game which included two goals in the last 90 seconds. The Penguins started out very much on top with Chris Kunitz continuing his excellent run of form to put Pittsburgh ahead when his shot deflected off Dennis Seidenberg and crept underneath Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask on 6.33! But Reilly Smith tied the game only four minutes later. However the game soured when Pens D-Man Brooks Orpik had to leave the game after being hit whilst down on the ice by Shawn Thornton after a scrap broke out, resulting in a match penalty for Thornton! Bruons forward Loui Eriksson also had to leave the fame after suffering a concussion. James Neal then put the Penguins back in front on 13 minutes, when after being released from the penalty box, he deflected in Matt Niskanen's speculative blue line shot. First Period After Rene Rancourt's belting national anthem, the Bruins really took the initiative, letting the Blackhawks know that today would not be a formality. The first test for Tukka Rask came three minutes in when Nick Leddy fired a laser from center ice forcing Rask to knock the puck away. Less than a minute later Jonathan Toews linked up with Patrick Kane from behind Rask's net but Kane fired wide. The Blackhawks have been working on their link up play as Alex's man-crush Michal Handzus may have struggled in the faceoff spots but his passing was on target. The Handzus-Sharp pairing proving to be one of the best in the league. The Bruins' third line kept Chicago under pressure but for what seemed like an age, couldn't find the net. Patrick Kane continued his impressive playoff performance and put in a first star performance to gain the Chicago Blackhawks an impressive 3-1 win over the Boston Bruins at the United Center last night and as a result they take a 3-2 lead in the series and lie just one game away from the ultimate prize! Kane struck late in the first period and bagged his eight goal of the playoffs 17 minutes in when he backhanded the puck into the bottom left corner of Tuukka Rask ’s net when Johnny Oduya ’s shot shattered Dennis Seidenberg ’s stick and fortuitously slid into his path! The Blackhawks skilfully used their pace and made use of the extra space available to frustrate the Bruins defence- meanwhile Corey Crawford was proving a wall in a net and it would prove to be that way for the remainder of this fixture. Brent Seabrook was the overtime hero once again; as the Chicago Blackhawks came from behind in an exhilarating 6-5 win against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden in game 4 to level the series at 2-2! After Tuukka Rask ’s shutout in game 3 on Monday, the Blackhawks have come back strong. The Hawks began the first period strongly when Brandon Saad set up Seven Days in Hockey favourite Michal Handzus on a 2 on 1 after 7 minutes, but Saad became the enemy soon after as his giveaway led to a long range leveler on a Power Play by Rich Peverley . But the game burst into life in the second period when Chicago skipper Jonathan Toews scored a tip after 6 minutes to put them in front 2-1, this goal was Toews first goal since the Western final against the Red Wings and two minutes later the in-form Patrick Kane pushed them further ahead!   Milan Lucic however, put the Bruins back in the game when he scored a backhand rebound off a Zdeno Chara shot before Marcus Kruge...

During Pittsburgh's 3-0 loss against Boston, things got a little heated in the second period (just watch Malkin's assault on Bergeron!) but one moment that had everyone's hearts in their mouths was when Penguins skipper Sidney Crosby attempted to pick a fight with burly 6 ft 9 Bruins skipper Zdeno Chara ! If you listen hard enough while you can hear the cries of "JUST DON'T!!!" from hockey fans world wide- luckily the officials stopped Crosby's already broken jaw from being taken clean off! The Boston Bruins claimed victory in Game One of their series against the New York Rangers with a 3-2 Overtime win at the TD Garden. The game burst into life in the second period when a mistake by the usually consistent Henrik Lundqvist allowed Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara to score and give the home side the advantage. But with two seconds left on the clock, Ryan McDonagh swooped in to level scores! New York went ahead 16 seconds into the third period when Derek Stepan scored, but Bruins fans didnt have to wait long for a response as a long ranger from Torey Krug sealed his first NHL goal on a powerplay and leveled the scores! Goalies Rask and Lundqvist were both kept busy for the remainder of the period but no could find a way past so the game was pushed to overtime. After four minutes of play Brad Marchand scored to give the bruins the victory! Although Boston has secured victory, things will not be straight forward in this series and people should prepare for some interest...
