Is Raheem Sterling Worth £49 Million?

It has been announced that the long saga involving Raheem Sterling 's future at Liverpool has been resolved. The club today has accepted a bid over £49 Million from Manchester City . Apart from the fact that is an astonishingly high sum for a club be playing for a player who is only 20 years old, the real question will be is he worth it? This summer has been filled with the will he/won't he spectulation, but is Manchester City really the club for this guy? Sterling is unquestionably a talented player and Liverpool losing him will be a big blow. However, I do not feel that he is really worthy of this kind of transfer fee. Many people sneered when Gareth Bale went to Real Madrid for £85 million. Prior to that he had two PFA Player of the Year award's in his corner and had been one of the leagues most talented wingers. A Champions League winners medal later and everyone saw just how valuable he could potentially be. Sterling however is still in the early dawn of a playing ...

Gerrard Makes An Anfield Legend... In Just 48 Seconds

Image
Today after replacing Adam Lallana at half time in Liverpool 's crucial 2-1 loss to Man United at Anfield today, Reds legend, Steven Gerrard' s final appearance in this grudge match was memorable for all the wrong reasons. No sooner had he entered the fray, he found himself red carded only 48 seconds later for a stamp on United midfielder, Ander Herrera ! This will be one event that both sets of fans will remember for entirely different reasons. Former Liverpool team mate, Jamie Carragher has already referred to this as a 'moment of madness', Gerrard is due to move to LA Galaxy for next season, which is likely to be the last of his career. An apology has already been issued by Gerrard, but isn't likely to make fans happy after dropping needed points against a bitter rival in their quest for Europe! I can appreciate the frustration Gerrard must be feeling, particularly as he has been a key cog in the Reds machine over the years. Now with game time limited an...

Has Balotelli Been Worth The Trouble?

Image
After scoring the winning penalty in Liverpool's Europa League win over Besiktas on Wednesday, Mario Balotelli has once again succeeded in upsetting the apple cart. As Jordan Henderson was preparing to take the spot kick himself, Balotelli proceeded to snatch the ball from him. This triggered a heated confrontation between him and teammate Daniel Sturridge . Ignoring both of them, Balotelli coolly slotted the winner. The aftermath is the seemingly meaningless affair has gone to a deeper core- Steven Gerrard has now accused Balotelli of showing disrespect ! When a respected figure like Gerrard starts to call you out, you know this no small opinion. Since arriving for £16.5 million in the summer, this guy was once again the hot topic of discussion and many questioned Brendan Rodgers ' decision to bring him in. In the past he has proven to be disruptive, but he has normally made up for this with his scoring ability. This season though it appears that the goals has all but...

Return of Super Mario: Problem or Suarez Solution?

With yesterday's news that Mario Balotelli might be returning to the Premier League, this time with Liverpool FC , the North West of England is now on high alert! His last outing with Manchester City caused more headlines for his outrageous off the field antics than the ones on them. But with the departure of 'El Vampire' aka Luis Suarez to Barcelona for an astounding £75 Million, a void therefore needs to be filled at centre forward. Will Balotelli provide a suitable replacement for Luis Suarez? Here are a list of reasons for and against his pending transfer Reasons For: Natural Goalscorer: Mario's time at Man City may not have ended happily, but you cannot deny that his goalscoring touch hadn't deserted him and his previous record of 20 goals from just 54 premier league games reads quite well.  Style Could Suit Sturridge: His pacy and agile style of play along with his great strength could make him a formidable partner for Daniel Sturridge . None though...
