M-Sport raise the TiTänak
The World Rally Championship claims to be 'the world's toughest motorsport' and yesterday, the Rally Guanajuanto Mexico certainly made good on that claim, as M-SPORT Driver Ott Tänak and his co-driver Raigo Molder found out:
Genuinely terrifying stuff. As seen in the video Tänak and Molder both escaped unharmed, Molder even managed to rescue his pacenotes.
Estonians, it seems, are made of sterner stuff, and the pair were determined to continue the rally. This is where the situation becomes more unbelievable:
Having recovered the soggy Ford Fiesta from its 10 hour swim at the bottom of a Mexican reservoir, the M-SPORT mechanics were able replace all of the ruined parts, including the knackered suspension which caused the crash in the first place...
...in three hours.
To put that in perspective, when my alternator cable was damaged, it took the shop nine days to fix it.
