NHLPA Decides Visors Mandatory, Mostly
The NHLPA has spoken.
After polling its members, the decision has been made for visors to become mandatory next season, but only for players coming into the league.
For players who've already played in the NHL, visors will remain optional.
We all remember Marc Staal's puck-eye interface and that prompted a lot of players to adopt visors but it seems a bit daft to still make it optional for existing players.
After all, a wayward puck doesn't care if you have a visor or not.
What do you think? A survey on Bleacher Report showed that 52% of fans think it should be optional.
The decision has to be approved by the governors before it becomes official.
No word yet on whether goals are too small or goalie's pads are too big.
