Alex's Play-Off Team

Goalie: Ben Bishop

He may have missed out on a Stanley Cup ring, but Bishop was the glue that held Tampa Bay Lightning together during their play-off run. Notching up 13 wins including 3 shutouts, a save percentage of .921 and a GAA of 2.18, Bishop was remarkable in net.

Defense: Duncan Keith

The rightful Conn Smyth Trophy winner, Keith was remarkable on the blue line. Scoring the first goal in game 6 was a tribute to his dominance. Scoring 21 points which included a staggering 18 assists, Keith had the highest plus minus rating of +16. The Chicago Blackhawks have been well served by this man and his importance was truly demonstrated in this final.

Defense: Victor Hedman

Behind Keith, Hedman was the second highest plus/minus rating of +11. His great defensive quality helped back up Bishop in net. During this series, Hedman broke the record for the most points scored by a Lightning player in a single playoff year with 13. Heavily favored to win the James Norris Trophy, the 24 year old Swede has been an essential part of the Tampa Bay set up.

Right Wing: Patrick Kane

Scorer of the cup winning goal in game 6, Kane's importance to the Chicago attack is unquestionable! Tying with Tyler Johnson for the most play-off points scored with 23, Kane was once again one of the key forces that propelled the Hawks to a remarkable third cup. Netting over 11 times, you have to wonder if how many cup rings he will have in future?

Left Wing: Ondrej Palat

While right wingers and centres were the ones doing the bulk of the scoring, Palat was quietly brilliant on the left. Scoring an all important goal in Game 7 in the Eastern final, the 24 year old Czech's 8 goals and 16 points were essential. Tampa has a great young team functioning around them and with talents on both wings flourishing, Palat could be a useful resource in future years.

Centre: Jonathan Toews

Tyler Johnson may have been top scorer at centre, but it was Jonathan Toews who was the real star at this position. When the Blackhawks needed him, their captain stepped up once again. Incredibly this is already his third cup win in just six seasons. Toews has proven to be one of the real stars of hockey and has been by far the key to creating this dynasty. At only 27 years old, the Winnipeg native has achieved it all!
