Quarter Final Predictions
St Louis Blues v Minnesota Wild
For this one, I have go with Minnesota Wild purely for the fact that they have been a real surprise package in the latter half of this season and I think they will be eager to please come playoff time! St Louis on the surface appears to be a perfect package after being seeded first overall. But in previous seasons they have looked impressive in the regular season,, but typical fall short in the playoffs! Also a good playoff run would be the perfect ending for Wild goalie, Devan Dubnyk who has had a career season! This one will be tight and I am prepared to be proven wrong, but right now I have to go with the Wild!
Prediction: Wild
Nashville Predators v Chicago Blackhawks
The Predators have had nothing short of an amazing season and although they have made the playoffs 7 times in the last 10 years, they have tended to be short outings. The Blackhawks have two Stanley Cups in 4 seasons and they proven to be masters at this game in recent years. Boasting one of the finest attacking lines in recent years, I cannot see how the Predators are going to be able to steer past them, despite a fine regular season record? Jonathan Toews is going to be keen to add a third ring to his collection. For this round I see the Blackhawks advancing.
Prediction: Blackhawks
Anaheim Ducks v Winnipeg Jets
With Anaheim holding one of the more illustrious regular season records, I predict this one shouldn't be a hard task for them. Being the sole California entry into the playoffs this year, Anaheim is going to be keen to impress after failing to press home their form last year! Tyler Myers and the Jets however are going to be out for an upset, but as impressive as their season has been, I just cannot see Winnipeg going all the way. Anaheim will be a hard team to match this year and with Ryan Getzlaf on great form, cup number two will be in sight!
Prediction: Ducks
Vancouver Canucks v Calgary Flames
This is the tie of the round that could potentially go anyway at all and both teams are evenly matched. Radim Vrbata and the Sedin twins will be out to ensure the Canucks recovery from the Tortorella massacre continues. But their playoff affairs the Flames in previous years have tended to be unpredictable and thrilling affairs. With the form of Johnny Gudereau, Jiri Hudler and Sean Monaghan, I predict this one to go the seven game distance. In the end I think the Canucks will prevail but this West Coast battle is still up in the air!
Prediction: Canucks
Semi Final Prediction
Wild v Blackhawks
Can see this tie be an entertaining affair as both teams have players capable of producing hard fought and high scoring ties. But in the end, I believe that Chicago's experience will prove the difference. Though expect it to go the seven game allotted length!
Ducks v Canucks
As much as I love my Vancouver team, I cannot see them beating Anaheim simply for the fact they suck at playing in California during playoff time! Anaheim will not cruise through this one and they will be some back and forth in terms of everyone's predictions. Think Ducks will have just enough on this one- sorry boys!
Prediction: Ducks
Conference Final Prediction
Blackhawks v Ducks
This one I am truly conflicted on and as much as I would love to see Anaheim finally bring home a second cup, I cannot shake the vibe that the Blackhawks may surprise us all again! A final between Chicago and the Rangers would be a great match up and I have a feeling that the Blackhawks will be one of the stronger teams in the west this year!
