Hart Trophy Finalists- Who Will Triumph?
Today it was announced who has been nominated for the Hart Memorial Trophy, the three players considered to be the elite players of the NHL this season are as follows.
On paper it would appear to be Sidney Crosby who will walk away with the main price because he has had a fine regular season where he lead the league in point scoring. But however, his play off form has been fine to materialize and it was until last nights 2-0 over the New York Rangers that he finally scored his first play off goal. But year in and year out this man is nominated and feels like a far too safer bet- don't get me wrong I am not saying he doesn't deserve to be here, just it is becoming common.
Personally I would prefer to see Ryan Getzlaf rewarded for his continually excellent form for Anaheim and this season in particular, the 28 year old Canadian is having the best season of his career and seems to be guiding the Ducks towards a potential second Stanley Cup win and this award would cap a remarkable season for him!
Claude Giroux also makes a strong argument for this award seeing as it been the sweet reward for a remarkable turn around to both his and the Flyers initially awful season. After being derided across the board for a series of lackluster performances, Giroux has pulled up his socks and shown some true leadership quality and showed that he is the future of the franchise.
So in short, I endorse Getzlaf for this award, but I am all prepared to be proven wrong on awards night- good luck to all three nominees, from both of us here!
