The HP Pavillion is no more. Behold the SAP Center at San Jose.

SAP, which is apparently some sort of software company has bought the naming rights for the HP Pavillion for a cool $8.375 million in a five year deal.

Whatever. It's still the Shark Tank.

July 4th seems to been a one with plenty of fireworks in Massachussets as today it was announced that Tyler Seguin, the Boston Bruins number 2 pick of 2010 has been traded along with Rich Peverley and defensemen Ryan Button have been traded to the Dallas Stars for forward Loui Eriksson and three prospects Joseph Morrow , Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser . This trade my come to a surprise to many Bruins fans as Seguin has been highly rated during his time at the TD Garden and currently his career stats currently stand at 56 goals and 121 points in 203 career games. Though on reflection for a second overall pick his career has begun at a rather slow pace and during the playoffs he hit the back of the net only once, but recorded the second highest shot total with 70 shots! But for a flagging team like Dallas, this could well be a major score and at only 21 Seguin could well re-ignite this franchise which is in dire need of goals after a season to forget last year. Here's some stories and thoughts from the world of sport this week. Baseball The San Francisco Giants only went and won the World Series for the third time in five years. Congratulations San Francisco. Hockey Detroit Red Wings legend and Hall of Famer Gordie Howe suffered a significant stroke on Sunday while staying with his daughter in Texas. The 86 year old is said to be recovering but has a tough journey ahead. Mr Hockey and his family are definitely in our thoughts. The Carolina Hurricanes continue to suck harder than anyone expected. The 2006 Stanley Cup champions are 0-6-2 for the season so far. Luckily for the 'Canes (and fans hoping to cash in on that free BoBerry biscuit), the team has a few games against division rivals Columbus soon, another team that seems happy to give points away. Landeskog Signs 7 Year Deal with Avs

The Colorado Avalanche clearly have faith in their 20 year old captain Gabriel Landeskog and have now inked him to a seven year extension worth a reported $39 million. A second overall pick in the 2011 NHL draft, Landeskog won the Calder Trophy in 2012 after a successful rookie season and in September last year he was made the youngest ever Avalanche captain at just 19! He also proved to be one of the few bright spots in an otherwise horrific season for the Avs last year and finished the season with nine goals and eight assists. Upon signing this deal for the left winger, Joe Sakic was quoted as saying "Gabe is and will continue to be a large part of the foundation of this hockey team for many years to come,"
