Five NHL Players That Should Request Trades
Tyler Myers
At 24 years old, Myers is one of the few sparks that this deplorable Buffalo Sabres team has to offer. Winner of the Calder Trophy in 2010, he has so far notched up so great numbers including 42 goals and 144 points. Buffalo has a player who is coming into the prime of his career, for Myers it seems unfair that he is stranded in oblivion and on this team he is not going to get a Stanley Cup rings any time soon! The problem for the Sabres other teams presenting a trade that would be equally balanced (they will have trouble finding willing candidates).
Alex Ovechkin
Three Hart Trophies and no Stanley Cups? Alex Ovechkin is possibly the most dedicated man to his continually misfiring Washington Capitals team. How on earth he has stuck like out in DC remains a bigger mystery than who killed JFK! The Caps are a team with one Stanley Cup final to their name which predates even Ovi, this season his 23 points have been about the only exciting thing at the Verizon centre. At 29, the Russian wizard's chances of glory are becoming slimmer by the day, but his long term deal may limit trading options!
John Taveres
Since being selected 1st overall in 2009, Tavares has been the poster boy for the Islanders franchise, but sadly his career achievements have progressed much beyond that! This season their captain has been his usual deadly self, and it appeared as if his side had turned a corner. Slowly the wheels are started to come off and one of the brightest talents in the league might once more be empty handed again. While he still has time, Tavares should force a trade to a side with player off potential. Otherwise he only has moving to Brooklyn to look forward to next season!
Keith Yandle
With both Phoenix and Arizona Coyotes, Keith Yandle has been the rock of their defense, including leading them to a Western Conference Final in 2012. Also he has been one of the only sources of offense which when you are a blue liner is a sign of bad team! This season he has been top scorer with 19 points which is the kind of stats you should be seeing for a team topping their division! Yandle is entering the later stage of his career and for his own good, it would be wise to move to a side which would benefit from his experience- though with desert hockey slowly dying that may come sooner than we think!
Shea Weber
For a double Olympic Gold Medalist to still be stuck in this Tennessee team is truly a crying shame. Still deprived of a Norris Trophy for his defensive work, Weber deserves more respect than he gets and this is one trade that Hockey fans are dying to see happen. Problem on the Predators side has been their inability to find him a suitable blue line partner, top NHL teams would be able to find one and most likely kick a reasonable amount of quality back to Nashville. 347 career points deserves a Stanley Cup ring at the very least.
